Is there a simple way to get it reprogrammed to have my instantaneous mileage reading again??? Gm refused any coverage of the cost. So apparently the parts guy will be looking into it, he said there's a bunch of different dash clusters available, likely they didn't pick the exact match, so they said they'll replace it, if that was the case. Repairs include our 12 month hassle free warranty on the entire unit not just parts changed. The vehicle had not been inspected when the complaint was filed. Here's the crappy thing, the new dash program sucks, my old cluster had Instanteous Mileage, and used to say Personal Trip and Business Trip, and I could turn them on and off.
On occasion, it either doesn't work at all, or the needle is fully pegged. We rebuild the entire unit, replacing all of the gauge stepper motors and illumination lamps, and send it back better than new. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired for the malfunction. The dealer stated that there have been numerous failures related to those specific components. They have a bad part in or installed it wrong they need to fix it. Even though they admit to a failure of the system, since I cannot prove it happened within the 70k mileage they are refusing to replace it. We almost got rammed by a truck. The engine size is unavailable.
The workmanship is really superb. The consumer stated people drive an average of 15,000-20,000 miles per year. They don't have to replace the cluster again, all they have to do is program it for that option. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. I see that you must have cleaned even the inside of the faceplate. After keeping track of this it progressively got worse.
The current mileage was approximately 150,000. In a few short steps, you can get your instrument panel in the mail today and be back on the road this time next week. After the warranty expired the issue resurfaced. The contact was able to elevate the vehicle and move the wheel about a half inch in both directions. Both my father and brother have 2004 chevy silverados 2500hd and they both received a letter saying that there is a defect in the gauge cluster and both of them had their speedometers go bad and chevy fixed them. I really hope that you can get this instrument panel cluster to become a recall.
From my guess it does. The current mileage is 56,000 and failure mileage was 50,000. The vehicle was driven to the side of the roadway. They're hiding behind a Judge's ruling that they only have to honor mileage up to 80k, anything beyond that they'll tell you to stick it.
Sry I just put todays date in the incident box. While the contact was driving between 55-60 mph, smoke expelled from the instrument panel and air vents. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer but was offered no assistance. They even found documentation at the dealership service dept. The frequency of the failures is increasing.
National highway safety traffic administration should be responsible for issuing open ended recalls for safety items such as these. This will eliminate the need to keep the vehicle overnight. All Sierra models — 1500, 2500, and 3500; Duramax, 4. Apparently gm will repair at no cost but only if less than 70k miles. I won't ever own another! No recalls or complaints received according to them. Feels like I got downgraded.
