Just to clarify things, your 2001 Sport Trac is a Job 1 or a Job 2? I looked online and found several complaints of tone rings abs rings being cracked. Many people are writing about near acciddents, accidents and Ford's refusal to do anything about this very dangerous brake issue. Comfortable on short city trips and long all-day trips. Escapes can be equipped with either front-wheel drive or Intelligent four-wheel drive, which engages automatically to maintain traction. Sometimes the ring can lodge against the spindle, steering knuckle, or hub assembly, either shattering the parts around it or even causing the wheel to lock up entirely. I opened up the column to look for the loose connections but everything looked good. The vehicle has not been repaired.
The dealer of course said something similar, but couldn't be sure until they tore it apart. Another note, the repairs have a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty. Otherwise it is a fun car to drive and handles very well. I have emailed and postal mailed the ceo of Ford with no response. The 4wd dash light also started to blink intermittently. Overall I like the vehicle and will retain it's value in the next few years. Anybody have any experience with this? Standard wheels measure 15 inches in diameter, but 16-inch tires are available.
The technicians stated the the exciter ring needed to be replaced. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle started making a loud clunking noise. The vehicle would not move forward while the engine was still running. My buddy's Explorer is a road boat by comparison and I used to be please with it. I presented this info to the service department without any relief or recourse other that I would probably have to pay to have this done again. Does your 4x4 light flash any? I noticed my Escape was leaking fluid took it to the Ford dealer it was the transfer case.
V6 has more torque than contention at time when new. The Limited has leather seating surfaces. Sure a big full size Bronco is cool. Had I not still be covered under warranty this would have been a very expensive and upsetting repair. I verified that the tail light and reverse light is working. Brent Thanks again for the help.
While accelerating from a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the contact heard an abnormal noise underneath the vehicle. My car is still in the shop because they had to order the parts and then they will be able to complete the replacement of the transfer case and parts. Ford claims a front-drive Escape Hybrid can yield 36 mpg in city driving and travel up to 500 miles on a single tank of gas. Other is 02 Ford Ranger 4 x 4 ober 100k miles. You have the same brush guard and tail light guards as I do, but that yellow really does make the black guards stand out. When driving the Escape Hybrid, you're seldom aware that you're in anything other than a conventional Escape.

Could the switch be defective? It is a possibility that if you loosen the bolts on everything, and start budging it around it might line up a little better. Ride is rougher than some and only 4 speed automatic even back in 07, come on Ford. A transmission failure warning came on the screen and the car wouldn't shift. The first was a cracking noise when accelerating, second came a clicking noise while braking and then a howling sound.
