I have also been locked out of 3rd gear under acceleration. The contact mentioned that he had to pump the clutch several times in order for the vehicle to shift into first, second or third gear and it would not shift into reverse at all unless the vehicle was completely turned off. One thing I want to stress with this car is the sheer speed that's possible with the new 10-Speed 10R80 Automatic Transmission and the Gen 3 Coyote Engine. All are welcome, regardless of year or engine size! This appears to be a safety concern as I have to deal with an inconsistent transmission. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle remained parked in place for 20-30 minutes. The failure and current mileage was 12,600. It is very hard to get into gear most times while accelerating and I believe it to be a safety issue. Because these cars are still just as quick, if not quicker, than the stick cars. It starts smoking white smoke from the tail pipes, the longer it sits the heavier the smoke gets.
Overall, the transmission is solid and works very well; there remains a few gremlins to be sorted out. On another note, clutch feel is supposed to be better for the 2015 models. If someone was to have these springs installed and the car was lowered with Ford parts does that mean the dealership will refuse to work on it if it doesn't fit on their lifts then as well? I have had numerous occasions where I have almost been in an accident because of this, even after I became aware of the issue. The shifting is not smooth, and feels notched as you slide it into place. Have had numerous close calls because of the inability to quickly shift to second or third.
So I tried shifting into first quickly and it would not go in, I backed out into neutral and tried again, once again it would not go in. If you are aware of this issue its okay to drive, but first time this happened to me from a red light when I had to merge from 2 lanes to one lane it was very scary. Also this has happened every time I drive the car not just on the date listed. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floor board. All of which have different needs when it comes to which transmission to run with on your Mustang. There is a lot of hype around this automatic transmission for the sheer fact that it shifts quicker than any transmission in the Mustang to date. I notice this every time I turn left or shift when traveling on a curve to the left.
Ford needs to fix this mt82 before I get rear ended and hurt!!! The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Two days later, as I am pulling up into my designated parking stall of my work. So at 244 miles on the odometer it's now got manual transmission and paint problems! The MagneRide stiffens up a decent amount allowing you to feel the road significantly more than Normal mode - which is a good thing. But my Ford place says it has to do it with them driving for them to know what to do or what the issue is. Mustang forums had warned us that this could happen. The dealers say they can't fix the car without a computer error code which they are not getting.
Same thing with launching off the line in an automatic -- an upgraded torque converter is much more difficult to install than simply teaching yourself how to launch your Mustang correctly with a clutch. To eliminate this, you can add a clutch fluid reservoir that will give you an enhanced, firmer clutch feel. I am out of options and don't know what to do. He has a T-56 waiting to go in, he just needs the time to do it. However, Ford has done nothing to try to fix the problem. After making the vehicle come to a nearly complete stop, I was able to shift into second and get out of the way of oncoming traffic. I have contacted Ford customer service and registered my complaint but no fix is out there currently from Ford this is obviously a faulty design. The vehicle was not repaired. I did some google-fu wondering what the deal was with Chinese transmissions in a Ford, and it turns out that these are the manual transmissions they've been putting in a large majority of the Mustangs. It definitely was not the response from the public that Ford was after. They will get you squared away in short order! First one failed within a block from dealership, the car was missing a 2nd gear. I've read in forums that many people are having this issue intermittently, this could be a serious safety issue that can have deadly consequences.
The dealership said it was the composition of the rotor metal that it was no worries. This just about covers all of the common issues. Shifting into 2nd gear has a little grind but feels better or completely goes away as the car warms up, also when turning shifting from 1st to 2nd has a grind no matter if the car is warmed up or not. I suggest that Hines Park Ford in Kensington needs a new mechanic, I was told twice there was nothing wrong. In addition to the brake issue, when I went to accelerate from stop the vehicle would accelerate very slowly as if in a limp mode.
