Always call ahead to ensure your challenge can be accommodated Spectators are Welcome, but are required to order from the menu in order to occupy a table or booth. The first time was just for drinks and appetizers which were so yummy and my partner and I had such a pleasant time chatting with the bartender that we decided to come back for a full dinner. Today, Russo's New York Pizzeria counts over 20 locations in greater Houstonia as well as restaurants everywhere from Hawaii to Florida—and now, even Dubai. I had a beer instead from a local brewery, Werk Force. It uses super fresh ingredients and an authentic Neapolitan style.
When we mentioned our disappointment we aren't the type to loudly complain--unlike some of our neighboring tables--and offered our constructive comments quietly , the wait staff shrugged their shoulders, nothing more. The bartender recognized us when we walked in, which was nice! Not a very comfortable environment. Service is something I don't understand in this place: They take a while to figure out you are there even a group of 10+ people to take the order, the food itself comes relatively fast, but afterwards you'll ever get to see the waiters again. New Years Eve, Happy New Years!!!! I'm sure they hold up well outside but these tables and chairs are really uncomfortable and plastic and really small tables. Hostess didn't seem to know what she was doing.
They serve organic wines from Italy to pair with their dishes. Teams must call at least a day in advance and cannot compete during lunch or dinner rushes. The challengers are required to pay for the Pizza and all beverages should the Challenge not be completed in full. I would hate to be the one paying these two guys grocery bill. Alfredo sauce and ranch dressing are available as substitutes for tomato sauce if a customer wants something a bit different.
Personally, I did not enjoy the pizza. And from all of us here at Family Pizzeria, good luck your gonna need it! The place has an identity issue. They do not take reservations however they will hold a table for you if you ask. Lunch time was a great time to stop by because they were not that crowded. Did not get that here. I also liked they has an outside seating area. Local restaurants try hard to be something they're not with disappointing results.
Any beverage is allowed during the challenge Soda, Water, Beer-if over 21,ect. The pizza was decent but the atmosphere and seating wasn't. We'd like to see this place succeed since the last 4 places have not enjoyed the success that previous restaurants have in this location. Unlike most pizza joints that pack their pies with loads of stuff, on the place you can actually taste the San Marzano tomatoes, the mozzarella, and even the olive oil in their pizza. Also, we went on a chilly day and it was hot as hell inside.
Doubt we will go back. You can get a personal pan sized pizza for yourself, a medium to split among 2-3 people or a large that should be good for 3-5. Welcome to Exit 28 Pizza! For lunch, a 5 topping pizza and beers its tops! A New challenge record that may never be broken. But that's not the only major expansion in Russo's history; there's also its famously expanded 28-inch pizza, which is proof positive that everything, even New York-style pizza, is bigger in Texas. My husband and I had a date night so we decided to try this new pizza place. They have a very nice selection of local and imported beers plus a full bar.
I requested a sweet wine, they didn't have one at all. I liked the outer crust, but the Margarita middle was too thin to handle the wet sauce and cheese. Did they even taste it? Lip-reading capability would be helpful. The shell was light and crispy, while the ricotta filling was very flavorful. The pizza on the other hand is probably the best pizza you're going to be able to find in Stavanger so I would go back based on that alone.
The server was ok but the gentleman who came by to refill water and clean up plates was overly eager. Giambotta's cannoli with ricotta filling was legit!!! I've come here a couple times over the past 3 years with my husband and daughter. Baked in a wood oven, the taste is truly unique and so great! It had such great food and it was truly untouched by dirty american fingers on international food. They really should offer a Moscato. Be careful when you slide them out of the napkin, I nearly cut myself.
