The only way to truly know is to give both applications a fair trial run for a few weeks. I remember running into this problem not long ago but can remember how I fixed it. But I have been using Ableton about 10 years and only recently have I acquired Logic in the past couple years. Try moving the Rewire folders to the Desktop then running Live standalone to get it to reinstall it's Rewire files. For anyone who has had any experience with Garage band, you will find its a very easy stepping stone to Logic Pro X. Logic X integration works slightly differently, due to the fact that it cannot operate as a slave and will be discussed in part two of this tutorial. I tried moving both ReWire folders from Propellerheads Software folder in application support folder from both my username and the system libraries and starting Ableton 9 as standalone, but still no luck there. Logic is powerful and has great editing, but I feel more creative in Ableton and that matters more to me. Ableton Push or Komplete Kontrol stops working in Live. Now, any audio coming from Reason should be playing out of the Instrument Track in Pro Tools. You can keep following a similar procedure to assign additiona instruments. The price of Logic is hard to beat too. From the Rewire plug-in input choose the Mix L — Mix R set by default. Ensure that Abelton is not open. I like facets of each of these systems and want to have the best of both worlds — the live-performance flexibility of Live and the instruments and signal processing of Logic. Note: it is not possible to record Live's audio directly into Logic. The majority of new producers jump into this decision either without doing enough prior research or by simply basing their decision on what their friends and fellow producers are using at the time. Both programs must be at either 32—bit or 64—bit for them to ReWire properly. Sadly only around 15% of Pro Tools 11 users were able to say their system is rock solid. I have tried both settings but cannot get it to work. I can only get to the rewire channels via an aux. The reason I switched to Live 9 is that I also found session view to bring out a lot more creativity and flexibility in producing.
Edit: I have Live 9 Suite so I have all of Abletons built in instruments. Logic is good too but can't handle intricate projects. So I'd say Logic without hesitation, but others will probably say the opposite. For example, a 64—bit instance of Pro Tools will not communicate with a 3—bit version of Reason. Just 11% of Reason 7 users about 1 in 10 reported some kind of crash with the majority of that group saying it happened around once a month. Something tells me that Logic is not do something when I set the Rewire Behavior setting in the preferences.
Hello to the Pro Tools Experts from across the pond! I also have Spire synth. I'm at a loss for what to do. I have also set the Rewire behavior setting in the Logic preferences to Live Mode Rewire and Internal , but when I launch Ableton I constantly get the message. I can only get to the rewire channels via an aux. Its weird at first, you end up with a ton of 2, 4, 8 bar loops. Why not 16, you ask? Bouncing down your Logic session will now include Live's audio. Step 4: In the ReWire window within Pro Tools, choose your desired Reason output.
I'd say give them both a try yourself and just pick whichever you like the workflow of most. The 32 channel version is used in this setup. With its level at unity you should hear your audio from Live once you hit play. Well I still use Logic for editing things, cuz I'm just so used to it and fast.
