The thriller thickens as the salvage procedures take place, bring about the interesting final thought of the book. Scott Brick does a great job, in my opinion, of giving the story and its characters life. Guide opens with a guest on the Titanic who is sick in his stateroom. Song Lee, the Chinese doctor and researcher makes a nice addition to the cast of characters, including Joe Zavala and the Trouts, Paul and Gamay. Medusa refers to the source of the vaccine.
I haven't found a story yet I haven't totally enjoyed. Guide has all of the intrigue of any kind of cold war spy kind story. What they find at the bottom of the East China Sea, however, is even worse than they imagined: a diabolical plan to upset the Pacific balance of power--and in the process displace as many as a billion people. His chance witnessing of an airship disaster - which nearly kills him - and subsequent discovery of the gruesome fate of the crew sets in motion the most nail-biting chain of events of his career. It ended on the banks of the Rio Grande. He will tread upon territory previously known only to legend.
A solid page-turner that even features a cameo appearance by the author himself, Valhalla Rising snaps, crackles, and pops with Cussler's usual brio. Some of the dialogue was stilted. Before the next few weeks are over, Pitt will find himself confronted by an extraordinary series of monsters, both human and mechanical, modern and ancient. This is one of the best books i have ever read. First off, I recognize the plot is impossible, as we know given that this was published that the Titanic is not unharmed. Dirk Pitt, on an expedition to find the source of a deadly plague that is killing dolphins and seals in the Weddell Sea, finds Maeve and the passengers and rescues them from death. Dirk Pitt proved invincible in Raise the Titanic! Dirk Pitt had unearthed the greatest storehouse of knowledge in the ancient world: the Alexandria Library. The clues are thin, and the sketchy trail dead ends in a harrowing fight where he barely escapes with his life. Kept me hooked till the end.
