I've got 6,000 mame roms that came in a huge zip file. All the roms seem to work fine on windows emulators I've tried, which is even more annoying. But it's your site, not mine. Anyone here using a merged set and if so? However, the guy who makes these sets uses a merged set and I'm not sure how that will work with LaunchBox. Sounds like your a phenom-- From Face Book! Plus irrespective of that, practically none of the roms I have ever work with either mame system.
Even tho the directory listing came up for the initial link in my last post, apparently the genius who has this resource is on a server setup that limits transfer amounts per month, and the limit has already been exceeded! The movie guys are just as serious in prosecution as the music dicks, but as long as we don't host, we are just pointing to someone who doesn't care about a few felonies more or less. People put in lots of time and effort into some of these projects and we don't want to discourage anyone posting. Is it a legality thing or a pride thing that stops people from providing noobs that answer? So far out of the 500+ tried, I've found 12 that actually work. Are there any 'best of' sets out there already compiled? Going after the source standing water makes far more sense. So this is the one question I haven't found a good answer to. Dont rename this Zipped Archive. I would be surprised if that site doesn't get trouble sooner than later. The best way to get a working set of roms is to use the program clrmamepro.
Otherwise, I would be googling one-offs all day long. Also, can you get all the other associated bits like cabinet artwork etc? We know everyone has them, but let's keep these out of this sub. There are very few roms sites if any that are not illegal, as is having the roms on our computers that we don't own though tough to prove we never owned dead hardware since tossed out. Thanks for the update, Dave - the site owner obviously changed it, as it was freely available when listed. The games I'm most interested in getting to work are 'Photo Y2K' and 'Real and Fake'. There are also legal issues when it comes to telling people where to find roms. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, necessarily, but it's like going after all the mosquitoes of the world - there's too many to make swatting them one at a time effective in elimination.

Additionally, if you navigate to the parent directory, there's lots of movies, music and software at least a few Tera's worth, and including Wreck-It Ralph. Only problem I've encountered so far is there is some lag in Track N Field with the jump button. I never let a download prevent my purchase of the same music or movie, tho I know some may not follow that edict.
Donald helped me out with his older ones, and they worked first shot, so problem solved. It has an attractive, elegant, graphical interface which allows you to forego having to type command line parameters, although it can still be passed these arguments. So far I've gone through about 500 of them, with a massively painstaking process of copying them over to the Pi, trying them on both mame4all and advmame, seeing they don't work vast majority quickly produce a list of missing files then go back to the pi screen , then deleting them again.
